About the Publisher

Some people write books. Others publish them. Lucia Hodges does both, dedicating her publishing house, Inner Sound Press, to preserving, connecting, and illuminating enduring wisdom wherever it can be found.
For more than fifty years, Lucia has explored humanity’s search for meaning through academic inquiry, contemplative practice, and many years of living and serving in spiritual communities. With a background that includes graduate studies in science and ecology, professional experience in administration, and lifelong exploration of mystical traditions, she brings together perspectives that are often kept separate: scientific inquiry, spiritual experience, and the wisdom preserved across cultures.
In retirement, these experiences naturally found expression in her writing. In 2023 she published her first book, Rising Up into the Divine: World Mystics on the Ascent of Your Soul, combining careful, well-documented research from dozens of traditions with a clear, accessible style that invites readers to explore profound ideas through an engaging format. Her second book, Spirals: Cosmic Bridges Between Dimensions, expanded upon one of the themes introduced in her first while maintaining the same thoughtful approach.
Shortly thereafter, long-forgotten spiritual works began to synchronistically find their way to her. She has lovingly restored these neglected gems of timeless wisdom, preparing new editions with forewords, historical notes, indexes, and other editorial features that help modern readers engage more deeply with them. Lucia sees every book she publishes as another piece in a stained-glass window—distinct in color and design, yet each contributing another ray of light to a larger picture of humanity's spiritual inheritance.
In an increasingly noisy world, Lucia believes thoughtful books can still offer quiet places where deeper truths may be discovered. Through those she publishes she hopes to preserve these voices for future generations, helping readers find greater clarity, hope, and practical guidance for their inner growth. Her own desire for a more contemplative life led her to the mountains of southern Oregon, where the beauty of the natural world continues to inspire her study, writing, and quiet reflection.
You can see her in action below in three talks she gave to the Portland, Oregon Theosophical Society.
